Matthew Morrison Goes Somewhere Over the Rainbow with Leona Lewis
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Collaborations, Performances, Videos,
We may be used to seeing guest stars on Glee, but we’re not quite used to seeing this.
Wednesday night in London, singer Leona Lewis welcomed a surprise guest onstage during her concert at O2 Arena: Matthew Morrison. The actor, who is currently in the area working on his solo CD, joined Lewis for a rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
Followers of the show know quite well this isn’t the first time Matthew has taken on the classic song. Gleeks recently saw Will Schuester perform it with Puck (Mark Salling) during the season finale. (In the event you missed that cover, you can watch it after the jump.)

VIDEO: Crowd Angered by Canceled Drake Concert
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Performances, Videos, Hip-Hop & Rap,
Note to promoters everywhere: Never underestimate the size of a free concert—especially when it involves a former Degrassi star. In particular, a Degrassi star now known as Drake.
On Tuesday, an event promoted by Paper magazine was called off by police before it even started. The reason? Too many people and not enough security. Although organizers predicted approximately 10,000 to watch Drake - and Hanson - perform, the crowd was more than twice that size. It was estimated that nearly 25,000 showed up at Pier 17 on Manhattan’s South Street Seaport.

Can You Guess, Guess, Guess Michael Jackson’s Biggest Hit?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Collaborations, Music Videos, The Charts, Videos, Pop,
“Thriller” may have been the Michael Jackson video most fans wanted to watch, but it surprisingly wasn’t the song most people wanted to play, play, play.
According to Billboard, it was a tune that Jackson did with Paul McCartney that ranks as the late singer’s best hit. “Say, Say, Say” topped a list of 50 tracks followed by “Billie Jean” and “I’ll Be There.”
The list, which was compiled to help commemorate the upcoming anniversary of Michael’s death (June 25), took a number of factors into consideration to determine a track’s performance in the Hot 100. (You can read the full explanation behind the inverse point system here.) Although “Billie Jean” spent more weeks at #1, the Jackson/McCartney collaboration lasted longer on the charts.

VIDEO: Aguilera Performs National Anthem at NBA Finals
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Gossip, Performances, Videos, Pop,
If there’s a song that could possibly be oversung, chances are Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera have already done it.
Before last night’s NBA Finals game, Aguilera made a point of reminding us - once again - that she A) has a big voice B) can do a lot of things with it.
After hearing her rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” let us know what you think. Were her vocal gymnastics perfect for the song? Or could she have toned the performance - and her rings - down a bit?

Glee to Feature Coldplay Songs Next Season
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Gossip, Alternative,
FOX’s hit series Glee will pay homage to sadness next season.
After first denying the hit show permission to use songs from their collection, Coldplay has now agreed to having their music featured on the show.
Let’s just hope the ultra-depressing songs from the Coldplay catalog don’t single-handedly increase the FOX viewership suicide rate.

VIDEO: Slash Attacked by Fan, Keeps on Playing
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Performances, Videos,
What’s better than hearing Slash play his guitar solo on “Sweet Child O’ Mine”? Watching him continue to play it after being rushed by a fan.
On June 10, the former Guns N’ Roses musician was in the middle of a performance in Milan, Italy when he was (rudely) greeted by a surprise guest. (Cue the video to the 1:15 mark.) The good news? The shirtless jerk got a bigger piece of the floor than he did of Slash. The bad news? The rocker eventually had to have his broken Les Paul guitar replaced.
After the show, Slash addressed the incident on his own Facebook page. “Rowdy crowd for sure. But amazing! The guy who nailed me didn’t take me down but he busted my poor gtr. Ah well, it was a kick ass rock show in the 1st order!”

VIDEO: Dixie Chicks Cover Train’s Soul Sister

Sometimes a song comes along that is so fun and catchy, you don’t mind singing it repeatedly—until you’ve you completely banned the tune from your household.
While I haven’t (yet) written off Train’s “Soul Sister,” I’m coming dangerously close. But in the meantime, I going to listen to the Dixie Chicks cover it a few times more. I mean, after all, it really feels like those girls were meant to sing that song to begin with.
